Almost at the end of champioship season. This past weekend you all were fantastic as each of you worked through the weekend. We had a lot of swimmers from our groups who swim their lifetime best in a lot of events. I was so proud of all of you that I saw on Saturday and as I looked at the results on Sunday we had a great meet. Some of our teammates at the bottom of their age groups achieved cuts for next year (if they remain the same), which puts them in a great position going into next season.
Our work in and around the walls has improved tremendously this past season. All your hard work really shined during the meet. All the little things that we have talked about all year stood out during the races. One of the biggest things that I enjoyed was watching you all FINISH your races form 5 yards out. You finally seem to understand that you can't just swim to the wall, you need to put the head down and finish.
Sorry I could not see some of those races on Sunday but somehow I found myself in Clearwater, at another pool, and another meet. I was awaiting the arrival of our 12 swimmers for the Junior national cup. We got off to a slow start and as coach Peter says that travel day will kill you. As the meet has progressed we seem to be swimming better. Out of the 12 swimmers we have down here, 6 of them have gotten that second swim at finals in the evening. This year it is fun to watch because since we are drawing nearer to the Olympics, they change the course to long course after the morning prelimin session. The two from our group Lexi and Katie Karlinchak have both made finals with Lexi swimming lights out which is great coming off of JOs. Tonight will be interesting for Katie as she has never raced in a long course pool set up. For that reason Katie and I are headed back to the pool now for a crash course. I am hoping that she doesn't do a flip turn in the middle of the pool, after all we are talking about our Katie. Just kidding child I have all the faith in the world that you will figure it out. Stay tuned
Hope all of you enjoy your spring break that starts today. If you travel STAY SAFE.
