MAKO INVITE. SPRING BREAK

Almost at the end of champioship season. This past weekend you all were fantastic as each of you worked through the weekend. We had a lot of swimmers from our groups who swim their lifetime best in a lot of events. I was so proud of all of you that I saw on Saturday and as I looked at the results on Sunday we had a great meet. Some of our teammates at the bottom of their age groups achieved cuts for next year (if they remain the same), which puts them in a great position going into next season. Our work in and around the walls has improved tremendously this past season. All your hard work really shined during the meet. All the little things that we have talked about all year stood out during the races. One of the biggest things that I enjoyed was watching you all FINISH your races form 5 yards out. You finally seem to understand that you can't just swim to the wall, you need to put the head down and finish. Sorry I could not see some of those races on Sunday but somehow I

JUNIOR OLYMPIC WEEKEND

Entering this past weekend we all had high hopes and dreams that we wanted to accomplish. Although the weekend was long it was filled with a lot of peaks and valleys with each one of you working very hard to reach the summit. Back in September we all started out in the valley and worked hard throughout the season in order to reach for the stars and reach our dreams and goals for the year. Looking over the results from the weekend I am so proud of the way all of you responded to the challenges that you faced and overcame. Yes, there were some disappointments, and without making excuses, I will point out later how to view some of those races. Including relays WE had 272 splashes (a Mako record!) at the meet, and those splashes resulted in 194 personal best times. Makos had another 40 splashes in the 3 nights of finals that resulted in another 27 lifetime bests, and another 10 held their times from the morning session after dropping a lot already. When looking over the times, I als

CHAMPIONSHIP TIME

CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON is now fully upon us. This weekend we will have 2 swimmers (Katie Karlinchek and Emma Lowell) participating in JR/SR Champs at George Mason. Good luck to both of you and start us out on the right path. Next week we will take our 14 and unders over to the UMD pool for JO's. OUR CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM   As soon as they get the information to us regarding time-lines,and warm-ups I will get it posted. TAPER or no Taper You may think I have been ignoring some of you when you have asked that BIG QUESTION,Are we going to taper now? First off a true taper can be different for each swimmer and with that being said the Jr.Gold and Blue group do not need to taper. The reasons are  that we really do not do enough yardage and your muscles have not developed enough where a Taper needs to be done. As for the senior prep group a very small taper is all that is needed. Now keeping that in mind what taper we are going to do has all ready started, by incorporatin
